Davy is the SPCA’s newest best friend
With plans for the future on-going and in full swing, Davy would like to promote the SPCA's Outreach Project.
Determined, enthusiastic, and drawn to Mother Nature and the need to save and protect our community, these are only a few words that can begin to describe Devandrin Naidoo.
Known simply as Davy, he has an abundant passion for the conservation of wildlife.
This is shown by his drive to aid wildlife as he explained that his plans for animals do not stop at the Dundee SPCA.
Davy hopes his passion will take him to National Game Reserves as his goals are to one day work for a National Anti-Poaching Unit to curb this national scourge.
Davy joined the SPCA three months ago, and his work is on-going as he embarks on the treatment and rescue missions for animals that have been mistreated and misplaced.
His daily routine consists of cleaning out the kennels, monitoring of any animals needing veterinary assistance and dealing with the numerous call outs that the organisation receives.
“The SPCA offices and emergency numbers can get up to 20 calls a day, and with each case the need for team work is vital,” he said.
The Dundee SPCA offices have a staff count of five members, and Davy applauds his team as he notes that the SPCA as a whole would not be able to continue their work if it were not for the co-operation of every team member.
Davy added that he was glad that he could help re-unite a few of the animals with their owners, and help uncover the dog-theft plot.
“From Gail Crossley in the office to all staff members, we all work together to make sure all call-outs are swiftly dealt with,” Davy added.
“Team work is vital for survival,” he added.
When asked what the worst case he had to deal with, Davy recalled the tragedy of the dogs that had been stolen from their homes in Strathmore Park last year.
“These were very malicious acts that really shocked animal lovers,” he said.
Davy added that he was glad that he could help re-unite a few of the animals with their owners, and help uncover the dog-theft plot.
With plans for the future on-going and in full swing, Davy would like to promote the SPCA’s Outreach Project.
This includes animal sterilisation and healthcare education in the rural areas around Dundee.
“This project has been under-way for quite some time and is in place to further aid those living in these communities,” said Davy, adding that he would like to see this project reach Dundee town.
