Bergville roadblock yields good results

Police officers from Winterton, Bergville, Upper Tugela and Ematsheni partnered with the Okhahlamba Protection Services to host a roadblock on Friday.

The focus was to root out the illegal transportation of drugs and firearms into the area. Drivers who were passing the Emmaus Main Road were stopped and their vehicles and possessions searched.

During the roadblock a 29 year old man was arrested for driving while under the influence of liquor. Another person, aged 45, was arrested for the possession of dagga. He was found with eight grams of dagga,” said police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.

A 23-year-old man was arrested after he was found with 1.55 kilograms of dagga. Seven more people were issued with fines for traffic violations.
