Two-year-old boy drowns tragically in bucket of water

The child was the youngest son of Thomas Dlamini, a dog handler, who has been working at Dundee and District SPCA for over 20 years.

A two-year-old boy tragically drowned in a bucket of water in Dlamini Village late on Monday afternoon, February 6. The child was the youngest son of Thomas Dlamini, a dog handler, who has been working at Dundee and District SPCA for over 20 years.

The child was apparently playing with the neighbour’s child while the neighbour was doing her washing. When she turned around she noticed the toddler’s legs sticking out of the top of the bucket. The child was already dead by the time the mother, who was at home, was notified.

The tragedy has left Thomas and his partner traumatised and the SPCA are doing all they can to assist the family. Police are investigating. Anyone willing to help Thomas with monetary or other donations can contact Gail Crossley on 034 212 2851 or go to the SPCA premises during opening hours, 8am – 1pm.
