A mother and her 9-year-old daughter lost their lives in a tragic incident last night.
NEWCASTLE – A mother and her 9-year-old daughter lost their lives when the vehicle they were traveling in collided with a tree and wall on Link Road, at approximately 8.20pm last night, February 12.

Operations Manager of Trivs Medical Service, Jan-Henk van Vuuren, said the vehicle had eight occupants. The remaining six people were taken to hospital by various emergency services.
“Two victims sustained critical injuries, and the other four were moderately injured,” said Mr van Vuuren.
The road was closed for about two hours, and the Fire Department took the victims out of the vehicle using the jaws of life . The identity of the driver or victims cannot be disclosed at this stage, as police are still investigating the incident.
The Newcastle Advertiser extends its sympathies to the families of those involved.
