DHS boys annihilate opponents in 400m relay
This is usually the highlight of the evening and for athletics enthusiasts – the most anticipated event.

On Wednesday, February 8, DHS travelled to Vryheid to take part in the 17th annual inter-school relay meet where schools like Ferrum, VHS, Pionier, Landbou and other developing schools took part. The atmosphere was electric – especially when it was time for our u/19 boys to take part in the 4 x 400m event. This is usually the highlight of the evening and for athletics enthusiasts – the most anticipated event. Our boys were leading for the majority of the event and just strengthened their lead with every stride.
They managed to end this event with a convincing win, making their coaches and supporters swell with pride as they walked off the track victorious. Well done Jan-Frederik van Zyl, Philasande Mdletshe, Akhona Mhlongo and Lwandile (Koos) Mdladla. This was definitely a moment that’ll be retold for many years to come.

DHS dives into Midmar
Many DHS learners travelled to Pietermaritzburg on Sunday, February 12, to take part in the challenging Midmar mile that takes place annually. A lot of excitement and adrenaline led to a fun-filled day with lots of giggles along the way. Well done to the following learners and educators who completed the challenge: Thealize Jacobs, Dremar Jacobs, Gabby Carter, Nadia Raffenberg, Keaton van Rauenstein, Jordan van Rauenstein, McGreggor Stein, Juwairiyyah Moola, Michael vd Merwe, Mrs Carter and Mrs Venter. The learners can’t wait till next year when they will be expecting even more learners to take part. What an incredible outing with a group of stunning, enthusiastic learners. Keep it up DHS.
DHS at Hermann Mudman
Last weekend a large group of DHS learners, accompanied by Mrs Carter, travelled to Hermannsburg to take part in their mud-man events. Enthusiasm ran high as they prepared for the many events hosted by the school.
The following learners took part in an individual half distance swim and they were: Kwanele Mhlango, Jordan van Rauenstein, Michael vd Merwe, Dylan Mare, Huzaifah Mohamed, Rebekka Bohmer and Dremar Jacobs. In the full individual swim was Gabby Carter. She performed so well that she finished first in the u/18 catergory and was the third lady overall. Well done Gabby! The half distance teams are: the DHS Lush Puppies (Nadia Raffenberg, Kayla Tredoux, Savannah Calitz), The Dream Team (Cameron Meintjies, Keagan Donaldson, Lwandile Mdladla), Pain Killers (Karl Thom, Joshua Donaldson, Bryce Sharp). Lactic Actic Flashback (Keaton van Rauenstein, Eric Lauwrens and Anja Prigge) and Scrambled Legs (Thealize Jacobs and Keegan Wolvaard).
