On Sunday the Dundee Country Club ladies league golf team defeated Newcastle in their final game of the 2016/2017 season to see them being crowned the Ladies Northern Region league champions.
Congratulations and well done to Debbie Catlett and her team. Saturday’s club competition saw a mediocre field of 28 players taking part, and wining the I.P.S. event was the ever consistent Mandla Mthethwa with 40 individual points.
Zaine Qwabe came in second place with 37 points, followed by Barry Sandy on 36 points with Walter Du Plessis managing to win the count out on 35 points to finish fourth. There were four players who managed to card a 2 Club on the day: Mike Gardener, Bertie Venter, Mandla Mthethwa and Clement Sithole, all claiming a share of the prize money.
The Wednesday Business League is now a very closely contested affair following last week’s results.
Morning Dew Chickens toppled the Amabongolo team from the top of the table after beating them 43-39. The Shed were victorious 42-37 over Farmers Agri-Care to see them move into third place, while OK Value and Deb’s Embroidery drew their game 39 points each. The final round robin games will be played this week and the top four teams are now only one point adrift of each other as the league moves into the play-off stages.
Another future golfer was born on Wednesday, February 15, and on behalf of the members we would like to congratulate Walter and Natasha du Plessis on the birth of their son, Walter Junior. This week’s fixtures; Wednesday: Business League at 4pm, Friday: 10 Hole Meat Competition and Saturday’s Club Competition will be a 4 BBBS event.
