LIGHTS OUT: Flash floods cause power failure in CBD and surrounding areas
The Municipal Electrical Department is working on the problem, although the rain is hampering the work.

NEWCASTLE – A large part of the CBD and areas around the riverbanks in Newcastle have been left without electricity.
A municipal source explained the electrical department was working on the matter, but the lack of electricity was caused by the flash floods and constant rainfall which tripped the power supplies.
“Some areas cannot be repaired due to flooding, as such, it is not possible to give a general answer on how long it will take to restore power,” he said.
Newcastillians are encouraged to remain patient while the municipality works on the matter.
