Amangwe police explain the dangers of drug abuse

Employees were warned that drugs and alcohol abuse has inherent dangers attached thereto, whether you abuse or misuse it inside or outside the factory

Amangwe Station Commander, Captain Ngcobo, together with Amangwe Visible policing and Social Crime Prevention members visited a factory in the area on February 9.

Their aim was to sensitise the workers on alcohol and substance abuse. Employees were warned that drugs and alcohol abuse has inherent dangers attached thereto, whether you abuse or misuse it inside or outside the factory.

For instance, when an employee is under the influence of drugs, he lacks concentration and productivity decreases. Inquest cases have been reported from factories where employees were working under the influence of drugs, using dangerous machines and due to lack of concentration, accidents happened, which ultimately resulted in death.

Alcohol and substance abuse can also have a negative effect on your home life resulting in domestic violence and can also predispose one to being considered as an easy target for criminals who may intend to commit robbery, assault or murder.
