Water restrictions still in place despite dams being full

People cannot use hose pipes to wash their cars or water their gardens, or anything that requires a large amount of water usage

Despite the heavy rainfall that was experienced in Ladysmith, which saw rivers and dams overflowing, the municipality has stated that water restrictions are still in place.

Although dams in Ladysmith and surrounding areas are full, uThukela District Municipality has stated that all water restrictions are still in place.

“Even though we’ve experienced heavy rainfall recently, the order for water restrictions still applies until the MEC for Water & Sanitation has given a statement stating that water restrictions can be lifted,” said communications officer Jabulani Mkhonza.

This means that people cannot use hose pipes to wash their cars or water their gardens, or anything that requires a large amount of water usage.
