Another job scam takes money from desperate victims

Victims were phoned and offered jobs as 'prison officer recruits;

Residents are warned of a job scam doing the rounds for Correctional Services.

A victim recently received a call from a ‘Mr Khumalo’ who claimed to be from Correctional Services, Dundee. Mr Khumalo said ‘there is a shortage of two recruits’ and that he should deposit R1500 into an ABSA account should he want the job. This, the victim promptly did, taking along a friend who also deposited R1500 into the account.

Later, they went to Correctional Services in Dundee and discovered that there was no Mr Khumalo and the cellphone number that he had used to call the victims was no longer in use, Correctional Services denied advertising any posts and allowing and have no knowledge of a Mr Khumalo.
