APL fishermen take on a full Chelmsford

The standout angler of the day was... and the current record holders of the APL thus far are...

The Angling Professional League (APL) hosted the VME League 5 recently at Sandford, Chelmsford, where conditions were rather challenging with the dam level having risen considerably.
Congratulations to Ladysmith Angling Club on finishing first with 63 pts, followed by Breakwaters (30 pts); Challengers (26 pts); Stillwaters (10 pts) with Dannhauser (nil).

The standout angler of the day was Udien Govender of Ladysmith Angling Club.

The VME League log sees Breakwaters in poll position with 44 pts; followed by Ladysmith (34 pts); Stillwaters (32 pts); Challengers (29 pts); and Dannhauser (7pts). The standout angler of the day was Udien Govender of Ladysmith Angling Club, finishing on 18 pts, winning himself the “orange” cap, R200 and an outright trophy. The overall leader of the APL is Ebrahim Mia (green cap) of Challengers with an impressive 75 pts.

The current record holders of the APL thus far are Preethum Birbal (Challengers AC – heaviest carp of 3,650kg); Sikander Amod (Stillwaters AC – heaviest non-scaled fish of 6,9kg); Suvyn Budhoo (Stillwaters AC– rare specie – a bass of 1,090kg); Veruschka Boodhoo (Stillwaters AC– Lady Angler of the Year); Dan Govender (Ladysmith AC – senior angler of the year) and Ebrahim Mia (Challengers AC – Angler of Year).
The next competition of the APL is the Transnat knock-out semi final on March 12 at Richgate Park. Breakwaters will fish against Challengers while Ladysmith Angling take on Stillwaters. The victors will proceed to the finals.
