To be recognised by your peers for your dedication and loyalty in your own lifetime (instead of at a funeral obituary) is one of the most gratifying achievements one can experience.
The Dundee Rotary Club’s vocational awards do just that. Anthony Coleman, Rotary Club President, recently presented three prestigious awards to a trio of locals who have quietly gone about the business of making life better and easier for many.
All three were humbled upon receiving their awards, in keeping with their own special qualities. President Anthony read out brief CVs of all three:
Enoch Sibisi
Enoch started his plumbing career as a young man with Gordon Collins.
He has worked with Mogil Electrical and now has his own business, Family Plumbing.
He is a gentleman always willing to assist and go the extra mile.
He is reliable and in emergencies will be there in an instant.
He deserves this award as he always gives his best beyond the call of duty.
His son, Thulani, was on hand to receive the award on his father’s behalf.
Shirlee Wade
Of Dundee stock, Shirlee is a household name when education and service to others are discussed.
An accomplished educator and musician, Shirlee has over many decades educated many young folk, and has accompanied piano and organ whenever required over the years.
She is an amazing flower arranger as well. A loyal Dundonian and a lovely lady.
Norah Simons
Born in Dundee and has lived here ever since  Norah started working at the Royal Country Inn at the age of 15 in 1970 and has been an extremely loyal and efficient member of the staff ever since.
She has welcomed and served. She once went on a flower-arranging course at St James Church and is a keen flower arranger.
Despite tragedy in her own life, she has always gone out of her way to welcome and serve the thousands of visitors, local and international tourists, over the years and has done the town and her country proud.
