Vryheid’s Standard Bank is evacuated due to fire scare
The bank was having some repair work done on the air-conditioners when one of the units began to smoke.

Vryheid’s Standard Bank was evacuated this afternoon after smoke, spewing through the aircon vents, sparked fear that a fire may have started.
Clients waiting to see if the bank would re-open for business today or not, said that the bank was having some repair work done on the air-conditioners when one of the units began to smoke.
Head of Public Safety at the AbaQulusi Municipality, Mr TS Mthembu, together with a fire-fighter inspected the interior and exterior of the building until they were satisfied that there was no risk of fire.
“There was some smoke on top but no signs of fire and I am satisfied that the building is secure,” said Mr Mthembu.
