54 golfers in flowing form at Flotek Day

Winning the 4 BBBS competition on 47 points was the pairing of M Els and B Denson.

The annual Flo-Tek sponsored golf day took place on Saturday at Dundee Country Club. A very big thank you to Kallie and Lisa Roets for an enjoyable and successful day which attracted 54 golfers in the gloomy and wet weather. Winning the 4 BBBS competition on 47 points was the pairing of M Els and B Denson.The second position went to Walter du Plessis and Leon Wellman on 44 points with the pairing of Willie Maritz and Danie von Mollendorff following up in third place on 43 points.

The novelty prizes for nearest the pin on the short holes went to: K Roets on No.4, S Mkhalipi on No.8, H Booysen on No.12 and W du Plessis on the 16th. The prize for the men’s longest drive on the 15th hole went to Brendon, while Veronica Donaldson picked up the ladies prize.

Trophy winners of the Northern Region Open and Closed Championships: Vlooi Slabbert (silver division winner), Sandy Browning (senior division champion), Anika Smith (junior division champion), Joan Solms (Northern Region President), Jenny Darvell (bronze division champion), Ronel Purchase (overall winner) and Nicola Nel (open division winner).

On Sunday, Dundee hosted the Ladies Northern Region Strokeplay Championships over 36 holes with the honours in the B Division going to two of our local lady golfers, as Ronel Purchase was the winner on 169 and Vlooi Slabbert recorded the best net score on 144. This coming weekend sees the Club Matchplay Championships taking place with the first round being played on Saturday and the winners going through to the next round on Sunday morning. Any player who has qualified for the Matchplay, but is unable to compete, must please notify Barry Sandy by no later than 5pm on Thursday, March 30.

Teeing off in the Flotek Day are Bruce Meyer, GR Seate, Billy Francis and Mark Nero.

Forthcoming golf fixtures: Saturday April 1, Matchplay Champs and the Club competition will be an I.P.S. event. Saturday, April 8, Monthly Mug Medal for April and on Sunday April 9 is the Oriental Golf Day. All golfers are reminded that our Annual Battlefields Tournament takes place in two weeks time and the entry forms are available at The Pro Shop.
