Breakwaters Club wins VME League 6 Champions

The VME League 6 of the Angling Professional League was held at Sandford on March 26 with Ladysmith Angling Club emerging the victors scoring 70 pts, followed by Breakwaters (47 pts); Challengers (40 pts); Stillwaters (29 pts) and Dannhauser (7 pts).

Breakwaters were crowned as the VME League Champions for the season 2016/2017 due to their consistent performance throughout the season. The final log position sees Breakwaters in poll position with 52 pts, followed by Ladysmith (44 pts), Stillwaters (36 pts), Challengers (35 pts) and Dannhauser (9 pts). Nadir Chrisenduth of Breakwaters was the “angler of the day” scoring an impressive 20 pts. He received the “orange” cap, an outright trophy and R200.

The top three anglers of the season were also confirmed with Ebrahim Mia (Challengers) finishing on 75 pts; Nadir Chrisenduth (Breakwaters) with 64 points and Mohamed Mia (Challengers) on 52 pts. They win themselves fishing tackle vouchers of R3 000, R2 000 and R1 000 respectively.

The top guns of the APL, Breakwaters and Ladysmith will each take on starting with the Transnat Knock Out final on April 9 at Sandford, with a repeat of the same duel later in the Grand Challenge at Richgate Park on April 23.
Both teams will be going full out for glory in a highly competitive league. The APL received a major cash injection having secured a sponsorship of R2 000 for the Grand Challenge. Yusuf Amedjee of Dannhauser Angling Club has sponsored this competition and it would be known as the AA Tours Grand Challenge.

The officials of the APL thank the members of Challengers, Stillwaters and Dannhauser Angling Clubs for contributing towards the success and competitiveness of the APL in the competitions to date while Breakwaters and Ladysmith Angling Clubs see out the season with Transnat Knock Out Final and AA Tours Grand Challenge competitions.
