Sentraal Rugby Club this year marks its 49th anniversary and plans are already brewing for the big 50th celebration in 2018.

The leaves are turning brown, the sun is dipping down below the horizon at 5pm and the sharp smell of Deep Heat is enveloping the rugby change rooms.
Sentraal Rugby Club this year marks its 49th anniversary and plans are already brewing for the big 50th celebration in 2018.
It was with this in mind that the club held their 2016 prize-giving last Saturday as a way of kick-starting the season, although bi-weekly practice sessions started at the Dundee High School grounds, which is Sentraal’s home grounds, some weeks ago.
With a ‘bok-on-the-spit’ courtesy of JD van Zyl, it was a jolly crowd who attended the prize-giving ceremony at the clubhouse.
Johann Coetsee, club chairman, thanked Boy Hesom and Dolf Kruger and the rest of the committee for the past season with a special thanks to Jacques Bierbaum for all his ‘behind the scenes’ capabilities.
He also thanked Henk Booysen for assisting with all the arrangements.
Sentraal played Volksrust away on Saturday and this Saturday, April 8, play Piet Retief at home. Make sure you are at the Dundee High School ground in the afternoon to cheer on the Sentraal boys and enjoy an afternoon of sporting camaraderie.
