Dundee Action Cricket to bring the heat
Everyone who is interested in seeing what action cricket is about and wants to know how to get involved is welcome to attend the Open Day.
It’s a month to go before the first official ball will be bowled at the Dundee Action Cricket Centre and the new sporting venue promises to bring the heat. The centre, which will soon be the sporting and entertainment hub in the area, is near completion and a special open day is being planned to get proceedings underway. The Open Day will take place over the weekend of May 6 and 7 and is designed to expose people to the world of action cricket. Everyone who is interested in seeing what action cricket is about and wants to know how to get involved is welcome to attend the Open Day.
Action cricket is an exciting team game that last for approximately 70 minutes. Its fun, keeps you fit and provides a healthy dose of competition. The game is so easy to play that people of all ages, men, women, cricketers and non-cricketers can all enjoy the game. Each team consists of eight players who have to bowl two overs each, resulting in a 16-over innings for each team. They have to bowl their overs within 35 before the teams change over. Batsmen bat in pairs and face four overs each.
Even if you are out, you stay in the court until you have faced your overs. Your team just loses five runs from the total for every time a batsman is out. Exciting and action packed, the sport is set to take Dundee by storm. A business league is also being planned for once the centre is up and running. Teams are already signing up to be a part of the inaugural league.
