Ramakrishna Centre all set to host children’s cultural festival in Ladysmith
Revered Swami Sumanasananda, President of the Ramakrishna Centre of SA, will also be present at the festival

The Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa, Ladysmith Sub-Centre, will be hosting a Northern KwaZulu-Natal Children’s Cultural Festival (NKZNCCF) on Sunday, May 7, from 9am to 3pm at the Ladysmith Civic Hall in Agra Road.
The NKZNCCF is an annual event that sees the youth from the towns of Estcourt, Glencoe, Ladysmith and Newcastle coming together to perform sketches, songs, dances and speeches. These items are all religious in nature and involve children and youth from Grade RR to 12 who put in long hours to practice and perfect their items.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa and the 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Sister Nivedita. To commemorate these occasions, Revered Swami Nikhileshwarananda, Spiritual Head of the Ramakrishna Mission, Vadodara, India, will deliver a keynote address.
Revered Swami Sumanasananda, President of the Ramakrishna Centre of SA, will also be present at the festival.
Sister Nivedita (Margaret Noble) was the foremost disciple of Swami Vivekananda, the patriot saint of India.
Her roots began in Ireland, later settling in Calcutta, India, where she established a school for girls.
Her goal was to empower all underprivileged girls through education and in turn, uplift mankind.
The Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa is a religio-humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organisation that seeks to promote universal religion and instil a sense of service to mankind.
The centre, founded in 1942, is part of the Ramakrishna Mission (India), a worldwide spiritual movement that aims to promote harmony of all religions. As part of its endeavours to promote its sacrosanct ideals of inter-religious tolerance, respect and acceptance, the Ramakrishna Centre has a robust and well guided youth development programme in place.
This includes the Children’s Education Programme, youth meetings, youth music classes and the Northern KwaZulu-Natal Children’s Cultural Festival.
The NKZNCCF is an event that is eagerly anticipated by both youth and adults alike. The items performed, and the work put into them, instil invaluable religious teachings in our children and youth that are never forgotten.
All members of the Ladysmith community and surrounding areas are lovingly invited to attend this remarkable event. Lunch will be served to all and literature packs will be distributed to all youth present.
