Book appeal to assist newly renovated library at Rorke’s Drift

Any of your outgrown books could find a new home and a new lease of life.

Following the opening of the newly renovated library in Oscarsberg Primary School in Rorke’s Drift, the community is embracing the facility with enthusiasm, especially the foundation-level learners who rush to the library during break time and after school.
“I am so happy to see this response – we have new volunteers working in the library, and each day, more and more children and adults are reading.
“It’s beyond my wildest dreams!” says Marie Lee, the US Peace Corps volunteer who spearheaded the renovation.
“What is crucially lacking,” she says, “is a good stock of primary readers and picture books for young learners.
“They are our future, and I’d like to build up our stock, which is woefully low right now.”
To that end, Marie is requesting donations of any ‘outgrown’ books which are languishing in the corners of your home library, hiding in cupboards or under beds, waiting for a new home.

Collection boxes are set up at The Royal Country Inn and The Courier office in Dundee.
If you would like to visit the beautiful Rorke’s Drift area to see the results of their efforts, books can be dropped off at the library or the Rorke’s Drift Hotel.
