Naptosa hosts ‘winning with discipline’ workshop
The guest speaker, Claudia Vorster, not only motivated educators about dealing with the challenges of discipline, but also introduced strategies that may be implemented in the class
Educators from the National Professional Teacher’s Organisation of South Africa (Naptosa) Estcourt Branch were keen to attend the ‘Winning with discipline’ workshop at Estcourt Primary School on May 4.
The guest speaker, Claudia Vorster, an educator with more than 20 years’ experience, not only motivated educators about dealing with the challenges of discipline, but also introduced strategies that may be implemented in the class.
She described ways to handle disruptive behaviour, such as aggression and disengagement. The audience was captivated by her friendly approach in dealing with the diversity of learners that we find in our classrooms.
Educators received a certificate on completion of the workshop as well as CPTD points.
Naptosa plans to conduct more professional development workshops to empower and inspire educators, both members and non-members, in keeping up with the philosophy: ‘Giving one new lenses through which to view your students and your role as an educator.’
