Enjoy the delight of winter at the Weenen Winter Fair

The fair is being planned to promote community building, economic activities and social togetherness for the town as well as neighbouring towns

Save the date July 15, if you don’t want to miss out on the family fun at the Weenen Farmers Hall. The Weenen Winter Fair is promised to be jam packed with plenty of fun things to see, do, eat and buy.

The fair is being planned to promote community building, economic activities and social togetherness for the town as well as neighbouring towns. With this aim in mind, Weenen.org was registered as a non-profit company three weeks ago.

The Weenen Winter Fair will be celebrating the best of the area, as winter brings loads of pecan nuts; oranges in abundance, gorgeous fluffy cauliflower, cabbage and sweet potato are widely available at vendors and farm markets.

So you can look forward to good food from the local talented cooks alongside farm fresh vegetables.

With the promise of oranges, strawberries and even avocado pears available at the fair, you can come through and get your fruit and veggies at bargain prices. Among the family activities will be sack races, egg and spoon races, orange balancing and a few old fashioned carnival type games for the little ones to participate in.

So far stalls have been booked for a range of local arts and crafts, toys, make-up, handbags, laser cut wood items, hoodies, bags, takkies, freshly baked cakes, hand knitted gifts, second hand goods and hot fairground food.

You may bring along those unwanted household items that can be sold or swapped at the car boot sale, cost is R50 per car.

You can also have your car washed while you browse through the stalls. The Weenen.org site is currently building a registry site for service providers and businesses in the area. See www.weenen.org for more information.

The fair is a community effort and stalls are filling up, but there is still space for stalls to provide seated shoulder massages, henna art, face painting, crafts, food items like jams, jellies, pickles, hot chocolate, a clown, buskers or performance artists.
There is also still room for a book stall. If you can fill the gaps contact Fiona on 081 270 0566 to book a stall. A stall costs R50 and all are welcome.

Funds go towards security and advertising costs. Bring the whole family and don’t miss out!
