Umtshezi Driving School Operators Association is rewarded

The association's Chairperson Vukani Mgoza says this was the first time that driving schools were recognised by the Transport Department

June 28 was a momentous day for the Umtshezi Driving School Operators Association. Members were awarded with operator’s certificates during a meeting that was held in Newcastle.

The association’s Chairperson Vukani Mgoza says this was the first time that driving schools were recognised by the Transport Department.

He explained that all driving school operators must be registered with the Transport Department, which eliminates any fraud, corruption of fraudulent licenses.

In addition driving schools will be graded.

“These efforts come from the Provincial Driving School Task Team that was formed in 2010 by the Transport MEC Willies Mchunu. It will protect clients from fly-by-night driving schools that promise quick licenses and charge people exorbitant amounts and can’t be found after that,” commented Mr Mgoza.
