An email inquiry was sent to the municipality’s Communications Unit, Mayor, Makhosini Nkosi and Municipal Manager, Errol Mswane on July 7.
This email centered on the application to NERSA (National Energy Regulator) for an electricity rates increase.
It was since calculated there was a significant increase across both Blocks Three and Four.
The following questions remain unanswered:
- Are the above calculations correct [regarding the block increases]?
- Why was the suggest rate from NERSA changed?
- Why has the Mayor not responded to the community, either on social media or through means of the Advertiser?
- How does he feel about community protests against rate increases?
