One-month-old baby dies in CBD – police open inquest

The mother and child were in the central business district when the mother said she heard the baby crying

Police have opened an inquest into the death of a one-month-old baby girl.

The mother and child were in the central business district last Wednesday when the mother said she heard the baby crying.

“When she checked up on her, she found the child unmoving. She rushed her to a nearby clinic where the child was found to have died,” commented police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.

Post mortem results later revealed that the child had died from natural causes.

The baby has been identified as Okuhle Ayabonga Xaba.
