Dundee High School will welcome one of England’s oldest and most respected rugby-playing schools when Lancaster Royal Grammar School visits on Wednesday, July 15, as part of its South African sports tour.

The international fixture promises an exciting afternoon of schoolboy rugby, with teams from both schools competing across several age groups on the school’s A and B fields.

Fixtures will be played in the Under-17, Under-18 B, Under-18 A and Under-19 age groups, with kick-off times scheduled for 14:00, 15:00 and 16:00.

International rugby comes to Dundee

Dundee High School has extended a warm welcome to the visiting players, coaches and supporters.

“We are delighted to host Lancaster Royal Grammar School and look forward to an exciting day of rugby, sportsmanship and friendship. We wish both teams every success,” the school said.

The school also encouraged the community to attend and support the players, reminding parents to “show your children the kind of person you want them to be”.

A proud rugby tradition

Founded in 1235, Lancaster Royal Grammar School is one of the oldest schools in the United Kingdom and enjoys an outstanding reputation for academic excellence and sporting achievement. Based in Lancashire, England, the school has produced numerous international rugby players and regularly tours overseas to provide its pupils with opportunities to compete against leading schools around the world.

The South African tour forms part of that tradition, giving players the chance to experience a different rugby culture while building friendships and sportsmanship through international competition.

The match is expected to attract local interest as Dundee High tests itself against one of England’s premier rugby schools.
