A multi-disciplinary operation held in the Uthukela Cluster on Wednesday (July 26) yielded arrests and recoveries.
Involving Ntabamhlope SAPS, Amangwe SAPS, Winterton SAPS, Ezemvelo Wildlife, SANDF, Estcourt Stock Theft Unit and Uthukela Crime Intelligence, the operation was aimed at combating stock theft in the cluster. This included the policing of the movement of stock along the border with Lesotho.
The group achieved successes, with several vehicles, persons and premises being searched during the operation.
Two people, aged 25 and 29, were arrested for housebreaking and theft after they had broken into a business in the Kwamkhize area of Ntabamhlophe. The suspects stole groceries, of which a large amount was recovered.

The suspects appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on charges of housebreaking and theft.
Another two people, aged 41 and 67, were charged with failing to brand their stock, while another two, aged 30 and 36, were charged for driving a motor vehicle without a licence.
The group of law enforcers also arrested two suspects, aged 61 and 54, in the Amangwe area for possession of dagga. Both carried small amounts of dagga, 0.01g and 0.04g respectively.
Some of the suspects either opted to pay an admission of guilt fine or received notices to appear in court on Friday, August 25.
