CRIME: Foreign national shopkeeper shot and killed

Police and ambulance services were summoned for assistance but unfortunately the victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.

Dannhauser police are investigating a case of murder, after a 47-year-old Ethiopian man was killed in his tuckshop in Annieville.

According to Dannhauser SAPS Communications Officer, Segeant Mfanafuthi Nyembe, the incident occurred at around 7.30 pm on July 21.

It is alleged the deceased and his wife were at their tuckshop when they were accosted by an unknown number of men who shot the Ethiopian shopkeeper several times.

“He received gunshots to his abdomen and chest,” Nyembe confirmed.

Police and ambulance services were summoned for assistance but unfortunately the victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.

“The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage and will remain subject to police investigations.”

Police are appealing to members of the public with any information pertaining to the whereabouts of the suspects, to contact the Dannhauser police station on 034 621 6500.
