6 arrested near Ladysmith for public violence

The group were hurling rocks at passing motor vehicles

Six suspects aged between 27 and 66 were arrested on Thursday, July 27, in the Magageni area of Weenen.

They were part of a larger group from the community who had used stones and trees to block the R74 roadway.

The group were also hurling rocks at passing motor vehicles. Six people were subsequently arrested.

All the suspects appeared in the Weenen Magistrate’s Court on Friday, July 28, facing charges of public violence.
