CRIME: Two suspects arrested for gruesome murder in Kiel-Kiel

"The victim was believed to have been struck on the head and body with a heavy object, causing him to succumb to his injuries."

Dannhauser police arrested two men for the gruesome murder of a 24-year-old man on Kiel-Kiel Farm.

According to Dannhauser SAPS Communications and Liaison Officer, Sergeant Mfanafuthi Nyembe, the murder occurred on the evening of July 30, with his body found dumped in an open veld near his home the following morning.

“The victim was believed to have been struck on the head and body with a heavy object, causing him to succumb to his injuries.”

Sergeant Nyembe said it was believed the motive for the gruesome murder was revenge, following an altercation between the victim and one of the suspect’s brothers earlier that evening.

Both suspects, aged 25 and 24 years old respectively, were arrested at Thirst Farm in Emfundweni.

They appeared in the Dannhauser Magistrate’s Court on August 3, and the case was remanded to August 7, pending further investigations.

Nyembe said this was not the first incident in the area of such a horrendous nature. Around two months ago, he confirmed, 25-year-old Nathi Vilakazi was also found brutally murdered in the same open veld.

“We would like to ensure the people of Kiel-Kiel that we will continue to fight any criminal activities happening in the area, and squeeze the space for criminals to operate. I would also like to thank the community for working with the police by supplying information regarding criminal activities in the area,” Nyembe concluded.
