MUST READ: Elderly woman brutally attacked in Beardall Street
The woman sustained severe wounds to various parts of her body, but police could not confirm its extent nor her injuries.
An elderly woman was the latest victim of a vicious attack in Beardall Street last Monday, August 21.
According to police officials the incident took place at around 7pm on Monday night.
“The suspects were waiting for the victim inside the house,” said SAPS Communication Liaison and Marketing officer, Lizzy Arumugam.
The woman sustained severe wounds to various parts of her body, but police could not confirm its extent nor her injuries.
The victim was hospitalised at Mediclinic Newcastle for approximately five days before being discharged.
Two males, aged 31 and 25 years old, were arrested by police on August 25.
“A case of house robbery was opened and investigations continue.”
An unofficial source confirmed the woman is on her way to recovery, and out of respect for the victim and her family, no names will be mentioned at this time.
The family request their privacy and understanding from the community.
