High calibre rifles and ammunition found abandoned

High calibre rifles, including an Uzi were recovered in Ngodini, Loskop on Thursday afternoon.
Three rifles and a shotgun were found abandoned by the police officers from the Pietermaritzburg Public Order Policing while they were conducting duties.
In addition to the Uzi, a 306 hunting rifle and eight rounds of different calibre ammunition were also recovered.
“The firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing to determine if they were used to commit crimes anywhere in the country,” commented police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.
