The nine nights are divided into sets of three nights to worship the different aspects of the Supreme Goddess.
The first three days and nights are devoted to Mother Durga – the remover of the miseries of life.
The second three days and nights are devoted to Mother Lakshmi – the giver of spiritual wealth.
