Watch: Fire destroys storage shed in Coleus Drive

No one was injured in the incident.

A storage shed at the back of a property in Coleus Drive was destroyed by fire yesterday (August 6).

The property consists of a main house and an outbuilding used for storage purposes. The outbuilding contained garden tools and other items.

Firefighters respond quickly

Firefighters from Alfred Duma Local Municipality responded quickly and managed to contain the fire. The blaze was extinguished before it could spread to the main house.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Cause of the fire unknown

Speaking afterwards, the property owner’s mother said the family is still unsure how the fire started.

“We don’t know what happened. We just saw the flames and realised the shed at the back of the house had caught alight. Alfred Duma firefighters then arrived and put it out,” she said.

The storage shed was completely destroyed, but the family is happy that the main house was spared.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and remains under investigation.
