Some of northern KwaZulu-Natal’s top school netball teams will be heading to Vryheid next month when Hoërskool Pionier hosts the Northern KZN Regional of the SPAR KZN Schoolgirls’ Fast 5’s Netball Challenge.

The regional tournament, scheduled for Saturday, September 19, forms part of the sixth edition of the provincial competition, which will see nearly 90 schools competing across eight regions.

Pionier ready to welcome northern KZN teams

Pionier will welcome teams from across northern KwaZulu-Natal, all hoping to secure regional honours and a place among the province’s top Fast 5 netball teams.
Ferrum High School returns as the defending Northern KZN champions, while Pionier will be looking to make home-ground advantage count. Dundee High School, which has won the regional title twice, is also expected to be among the strong contenders.

Fast 5 competition underway across KZN

The tournament gets under way this month, with the Zululand Regional having opened the competition on August 1. The remaining regionals will be hosted around the province before the action reaches Vryheid in September.

According to SPAR KwaZulu-Natal, the Fast 5’s Challenge has grown steadily since its launch in 2019 and now attracts almost 90 schools from across the province.
“Our involvement goes beyond sponsorship; we believe in the power of sport to build confidence, discipline and create a sense of belonging among young women and their peers,” said SPAR KwaZulu-Natal Promotion, Advertising and Communication Manager Nelene Rampersad.
