Drakensview Primary was ablaze with colour last week when Heritage Day was celebrated at school.

Mrs Jordaan’s grade one class all dressed up for the day.

The learners were encouraged to come to school dressed to observe their culture. Many of South Africa’s cultures and even some from neighbouring states were represented.

Later in the day the school was entertained with a variety of cultural dances, poetry and prayer.

Nkazimulo Sithole, Jade-Lee Barnado, Lientjie Goosen and Priscilla Chipeta with learners were happy to pose for the camera at break time.

The purpose of Heritage Day is to remember the cultural heritage of the many cultures that make up the population of South Africa and to learn about the cultures we live alongside.
