Uthukela Cluster police host medal parade

Events such as these give recognition to members of the police service who serve the community loyally year after year

On September 14, the Uthukela Cluster hosted a glittering medal parade that took place at the Settlers Park grounds in Ladysmith.

The morning started out cool, which was a blessing for the 145 recipient’s as well as their families and the organising committee.

But as the day went on, the sun increased in intensity, which in no way diminished the enthusiasm of those on the parade as well as the audience.

The police officers on parade looked stunning in their ceremonial dress and were flanked by the South African Police Service (SAPS) band and an impressive drill platoon.

The proud recipients were rewarded for service excellence, which included 10, 20 and 30-year service medals.

The medals were handed over by the Deputy Provincial Commissioner of Human Resource Management, Major General LN Ngembe and the Cluster Commander of Uthukela Cluster, Major General TE Gonya. Dignitaries as well as the recipients were treated to a sumptuous lunch after the event.
