Breaking News: 5 tragically killed in horror crash on Van Reenen’s Pass

Five people sadly lost their lives this afternoon (October 1) in a horror crash on Van Reenen’s Pass.

A Toyota Corolla and a BMW collided at marker board 56 in the northbound lane.

The exact details of the crash are unknown at this stage and police will be investigating.

Five people travelling in the Corolla were tragically killed, and four people in the BMW were injured.

The injured were taken to hospital for further medical treatment.

Police, N3TC, RTI and towing services are at the scene.

The entire northbound lane is closed.

Traffic is backlogged in the area due to the crash.

There was another crash at marker board 48, also northbound, involving two trucks and a light motor vehicle.

Bad weather conditions are in store for the night, so motorists need to be wary when travelling in this inclement weather and adhere to all the rules of the road.
