Get your engines revving for Wheels Thru Time
An appeal is being made for local owners to also participate.
Once again it’s that time of the year when motor enthusiasts gather at the Talana Museum to display their motor vehicles, ranging from the early 1900’s to the current vehicle of interest as part of the 2017 Heritage Festival, which is being held on Saturday, October 21.
Cars, motorcycles and stationary engines, as well as tractors from all corners of KwaZulu-Natal and from as far afield as Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Free State, converge on Dundee for an event that has now become an established feature on the car show calendar.
An appeal is being made for local owners to also participate. There are a number of interesting cars seen in the streets of Dundee which appear to go into hiding when show time comes around.
These include some beautifully maintained Cortinas, Minis, Beetles – Herbie hiding in the woodwork somewhere? – and a restored 1950’s Chevrolet, amongst others.
Entry to the car show is free, each participant receiving a commemorative glass and a decal for their vehicle.
Apart from the show itself, a full programme of events, including re-enactments of the battle of Talana and Rorke’s Drift, as well as pipe bands.
There will also be various stalls and a beer garden on the day.
Anybody who wishes to enter their car is welcome to contact Joe Mitchell on 083 274 4328 for more information.
