On Thursday, October 12, the School Library Excellence Awards, hosted by the KZN Department of Education, took place in the Imperial Hotel in Pietermaritzburg. At this prestigious event, trophies were awarded in three categories for primary and high schools respectively, namely urban, semi-urban and rural schools of KwaZulu-Natal.
The NRS Media Centre walked away with third place in the category, urban primary schools. Seeing that NRS had to compete with schools in Durban and Pietermaritzburg, we are extremely proud of this achievement. Congratulations to our teacher-librarian, Mrs Susan Kriel, her team of media prefects and our teachers in charge of the reading groups.

Skaak: Verlede Woensdag het ons skaakspan weer in die NRS Mediasentrum teen Hoërskool Vryheid te staan gekom. Hierdie keer het NRS met 1-4 die onderspit gedelf teen die hoërskoolleerders.
Eerskomende Vrydag vind die NRS-skaakkampioenskap plaas, wanneer ons skaakspelers dit gaan uitspook om die eerste, tweede en derde posisies op die rangleer.
