Reckless behaviour ruining Princess Park

Princess Park is one of the few recreational facilities that sports teams, in particular soccer clubs, use regularly.

Training and games take place on this field but so do other activities, like drinking, driving recklessly on the field and littering.
A resident who frequently drives pass Princess Park told the Estcourt News that a large amount of litter, which includes glass bottles, is chucked out of vehicles that park on the field.

“The soccer field is for the use of the teams. I notice that a number of taxis park on the field. They often throw out their litter. The glass bottles are dangerous for the players. I have also seen that the players have to clean up after these drivers,” said the resident.

He called on the local municipality to keep tabs on this and enforce the bylaws that are applicable to this recreational facility.

Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality Communications Manager Sphelele Zikalala responded by saying that at this juncture the municipality has draft bylaws and once the bylaws have been through public participation, council approval and advertised in the government, will it then be implemented.
