Thalana High matrics to abstain from parties
Ms Mkhize told the class of 2017 that in life they will always be faced with choices and it's important to choose wisely.
Grade 12 students at Thalana High School received the ideal motivation to prepare them for their matric exams when Newcastle businesswoman, Nomakhosi Mkhize, addressed them.
Ms Mkhize told the class of 2017 that in life they will always be faced with choices and it’s important to choose wisely.
“It is important that as we prepare for our lives after matric we stop, think and make a choice as to how we are going to conduct ourselves, continually asking. “Passing Grade 12 is at stake here. So, there are things one needs to do to ensure one passes like studying, sleeping and getting up early.”
She appealed to all Grade 12 learners to abstain from ‘parties and other things that will waste their time unnecessarily’. “Focus on your books and always keep the bigger picture in mind,” she added.
She said that life is a journey, not a destination so whatever one does, remember it has consequences and that you do it for yourself (Konke okwenzayo uzenzelawena).
“When you arrive at a tertiary institution remember that no one will care what you do when you do it and with whom. So you need to be disciplined to succeed and in life and it’s all about you. One day you will be left alone. You will be crying or laughing alone. You will be celebrating or regretting alone so you need to make choices that will give you results that you will celebrate. Choose wisely when it comes to friends as they will either make or break you.”
Mr Mkhize thanked Lukhetho Dlamini, a businessman from Sibongile, for making this day possible. The day was also blessed by Reverend Dlamini who donated candles to learners as a symbol of prayer along with Reverend Masson and Councillor Hope Xaba.
