Ghafoor hits century as Lincoln Heights crush Sarel Cilliers
Usman Ghafoor struck an impressive 100 off 65 balls as Lincoln Heights amassed 185/8 from their 20 overs.
Lincoln Heights Secondary School secured a dominant victory against Sarel Cilliers High School in a T20 match played in Glencoe on Thursday (August 27).
Sarel Cilliers elected to bowl first, but Lincoln Heights’ top order quickly put the hosts under immense pressure.
Usman Ghafoor leads strong batting display
Lincoln Heights top batsman Usman Ghafoor struck an impressive 100 off 65 balls, while team captain Waleed Ghafoor added a quick-fire 33 off 12 balls.
“The pair’s aggressive batting helped Lincoln Heights make the most of the power-play and post a challenging total of 185/8 from their 20 overs,” said the school.
Lincoln Heights soon returned to the field, determined to defend their total.
Waleed and Usman opened the bowling, and each claimed a wicket, putting Sarel Cilliers on the back foot early in the innings.
Domanic Moodley then produced an outstanding spell, taking three wickets in two overs while conceding just 15 runs.
Sahil Bhula also played an important role, taking two wickets in three overs, conceding only eight runs.
Muhammad Musa completed a four-over spell with one wicket for 18 runs.
Sarel Cilliers were eventually bowled out for 98, handing Lincoln Heights a convincing 87-run victory.
Well done to Usman Ghafoor, who was named Man of the Match for his outstanding century.
