Caution: Extreme heat and fire warnings for parts of the country, Ladysmith motorists be wary

Closer to Ladysmith, Durban and Pietermaritzburg are expected to have isolated rain and fog in areas

Severe weather alerts have been issued by the South African Weather Service for high fire dangers in the Northern Cape and north-western parts of the Eastern Cape.

A heat wave with high temperatures is expected in the Lowveld of Mpumalanga and Limpopo until Thursday.

This will cause uncomfortable, humid weather conditions for these areas.

Strong winds are predicted over the southern Free State and south-eastern parts of the Northern Cape.

Motorists from Ladysmith need to be wary of these predictions and plan their travels before they leave.

Areas closer to Ladysmith – like Durban and Pietermaritzburg – are expected to have isolated rain and fog in areas.

Motorists are urged to keep a safe following distance and drive with their headlights on.
