A large amount of cash was stolen during an armed robbery at JJB Energy on Stretch Crescent.

According to Vryheid SAPS communications officer, Captain Cheryl Venter, four men entered the business premises on Monday morning demanding cash. Three of the men were armed. Luckily, no-one was injured during the incident. Investigations are ongoing and no arrests had been made at the time of print.

Captain Venter warned that business owners needed to be more vigilant as the festive season approaches due to the increase in crime that usually occurs during November and December.

“Businesses can implement small changes to deter criminal activity. For example, change your routine. Criminals take note of the routine with regards to collection and banking of money when they are planning a heist. We also urge businesses to bank their money more frequently and not to leave large amounts of cash to accumulate on the business premises,” advised Captain Venter.
