MUST READ: A tearful farewell to Happygirl Nkosi

For eight years, Happygirl Thembekile Nkosi was a confidante, a friend, a mother and comforter for the children of Morester Children’s Home.

However, Happygirl sadly passed away on October 10.

“It was so sudden. She still came to work the day and spoke to me,” said Christian Social Service social worker manager, Gré Erasmus.

The children and staff from Morester Children’s Home were left mourning the tragic loss, and Erasmus said Happygirl would never be forgotten.

“She was passionate about her work at Morester, and was loved by all the children she came into contact with.”

As the house mother, Happygirl’s involvment with the children was more than merely ensuring they were fed and attended school.

“She got to know each and every child, having a special bond with all of them in their own way. Happygirl truly had a special gift and was a selfless person who always put the needs of the children before her own,” Erasmus explained.

Her passion and love for the children in the home’s care, led to Happygirl becoming a social auxilliary worker.

Erasmus said what she remembered most about Happygirl was how the home’s children reacted towards her.

“They were always so eager to come home from school so they could tell her what happened during the day. She will always be remembered,” Erasmus concluded.
