Vryheid parkrun welcomes visitors and celebrates achievements
Personal bests, milestones and visitors make for another memorable Vryheid parkrun.
Another enjoyable Saturday morning at Vryheid parkrun produced plenty of reasons to celebrate, with personal bests, milestone achievements and visitors from around the country adding to the occasion.
Leading ladies shine
Amanda Mtshali led the ladies home in fine style, finishing first in a new personal best time. Annelize, who crossed the line in second place, also recorded a personal best, making it a memorable morning for the leading women.
Nine other participants celebrated new personal best times. Congratulations go to Sugandren, Darius, Rika, Ane, Sephelele, Isie, Brigit, Dave and Leslie on their achievements.
Visitors and milestones celebrated
The event also welcomed several first-time participants and visitors, including Kelly Lekoto from Soweto, who completed his 203rd parkrun at Vryheid.
Two milestone achievements were celebrated during the morning. Debbie Boock reached her 50th volunteer milestone, recognising her dedication and contribution behind the scenes, while Ernest Sibiaya completed his 100th parkrun.
Marshals recognised
This week’s volunteer marshal also took the opportunity to recognise the important role marshals play in ensuring each event runs safely and smoothly.
Positioned along the route, marshals encourage participants, direct runners and walkers around the course and keep the finish line team informed should anyone require assistance.
The Vryheid parkrun team thanked all its marshals for their continued commitment, saying their support helps make the weekly event an enjoyable and safe experience for everyone.
