Garage crêche benefits from clothes

"I thank the Endumeni municipality for assisting us with R6 000 to pay for the water meter," said Ms Mantombela.

The children attending the Vukuzenzele crêche, which operates from a garage in Sibongile extension 18, benefited through clothes donated by Mrs Kaloo from Dundee.
The Kaloo family of Argyle Street contacted Bonginkosi Zulu from Endumeni Disaster Management who in turn contacted the Courier regarding the plight of the crêche.
The owner of the crêche, Khanyisile Ntombela (Mantombela) told the Courier that the crêche was established in 2012 after she realised the need for one in the community. “We were very frustrated after Umzinyathi District Municipality refused to supply us with water claiming that we must pay R6 000 to install a water meter.
“I thank the Endumeni municipality for assisting us with R6 000 to pay for the water meter,” said Ms Mantombela.
She said most of the children’s parents are unemployed. The crêche now has 22 children and is registered with the Department of Health. Mantombela thanked Mrs Kaloo and her family, Mr Zulu and the Courier for assisting the project. She said the Endumeni Municipality has allocated a crêche site in the area and Miss Ntombela mentioned that a certain company had promised to help with building it. Mantombela appealed to other businesses to put their hands together in helping to build the crêche.
