St Dominics Newcastle’s peer promoters have been selected for 2018.
Reflecting on the year past, the 2017 peer promoters said the 2016 group helped them maintain the high standard and number of bleeds the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) expected of them.
Donating blood was scary and daunting to many people.
However, the peer promoters’ job was to ensure comfort when donating, and for donors to be well informed as to how their blood saved lives and how valuable their contribution was.
Promoters achieved this with guidance on each step of the donation process.
“SANBS gave us the task of collecting at least 35 units of blood each term and we exceeded expectation by collecting almost 40 units each term. Thank you for the generous contributions given by every learner, teacher, staff member and those from the community.”

The 2017 promoters said they were proud to follow in SANBS’ footsteps, using its guidance and leadership to accomplish a unified goal and honour the responsibilities placed on them.
“Being a Blood Peer Promoter plays a vital role in ensuring the success of the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) goal.”
The 2017 group said it was proud to pass on all it had learned during the year to the 2018 peer promoters: Nsika Zwane, Asanda Mbatha, Siphesihle Ntuli, Mangaliso Kubheka, Sria Gokul, Yusraa Ameen, Minenhle Nkuna and Zamatungwa Khumalo.
“We wish you the best of luck and are comforted by the knowledge that you will make us proud. Thank you to everyone involved in this truly life-changing initiative – be the one!”
