MUST READ: Singing their way to gospel victory
While a still relatively young church choir, Bishop Nxumalo said the choir was filled with the talented members, dedicated to worship through music.
Could a Newcastle-based church be South Africa’s next gospel music sensation?
God’s Vision Ministries Choir was selected for the Crown Gospel Music Awards, where it will be competing against four other churches in the Acapella Division.
“I founded God’s Vision Ministries in 2006, with the choir being formed in 2009,” said Bishop Gcina Nxumalo.
While a still relatively young church choir, Bishop Nxumalo said the choir was filled with the talented members, dedicated to worship through music.
“The choir released an album earlier this year, called God’s Vision Ministries Worship Chapter One. After the album was released, it was sent to Gospel Crown Awards, where we were then selected as a participating choir.”

Elated about the opportunity, Bishop Nxumalo said a win would mean more than being awarded only a trophy.
“The Gospel Crown Awards is an initiative which is recognised virtually everywhere. Not only will there be music artists at the final event on November 26, but it will boost the God’s Vision’s Ministries. Also, if we win, it will be the first time that a Newcastle church has done so,” Bishop Nxumalo enthused.
Newcastillians have an opportunity to vote for the church, to ensure they bring the trophy home to Newcastle.
To vote, SMS amaziongod’svisionministries to 34069. The closing date for votes is on November 20.
Good luck to God’s Vision Ministries!
