ECA cleans up at Wagendrift Dam Nature Reserve

Rubbish and litter dropped at Wagendrift Dam Nature Reserve did not stand a chance when 14 Badgers and their leaders from Estcourt Christian Academy (ECA) descended on the reserve last Saturday morning.

The Badgers; armed with gloves and rubbish bags divided into two groups went to work picking up litter and rubbish.

After nearly two hours, they had collected at least six bags, which made a difference to how the reserve looked. Afterwards, the Badgers enjoyed a swim followed up with freshly prepared wors rolls and cool drinks.

The event was run with the co-operation of the Bushman’s Boating Club and Ezemvelo Nature Reserve Management. They have invited the club to make this a termly event as part of the Badgers community service programme.
